SSION – My Love Grows in the Dark

Posted in Art, Music with tags , , , on March 2, 2012 by SOCIALIGHT Entertainment

Hands down this is the modern day Boy George! It’s a very catchy tune, but the video is much more dynamic. The cross dressing theme and gender ambiguity makes for an entertaining video. The colors, the oddities and sideshow characters are an amazing touch. We usually have more to say about the music than the video, but this time the video definitely out shines the song. Regardless it all comes together very well. Good Job!

“The song was written about a sex club – everything is completely dark, you have to feel your way around. No one really sees me in the video, and if they do they’re indifferent. I walk through this house where everyone is completely self-obsessed. This video will be part of a larger narrative of videos for the album Bent.”

Justice – ON’N’ON … Trippy!

Posted in Art, Music with tags , , , , on January 24, 2012 by SOCIALIGHT Entertainment

We apologize to you all for not having posted anything in a long time, but we are on vacation after a maddening New Year’s Eve. We weren’t planning on posting anything , due to our F*ck the internet vaca, but we came across Justice’s new video for “On’N’On” and couldn’t let this one get away.  It’s a very Pink Floyd, space odyssey-esque video, trippy to say the least. Enjoy!

So I’ve been playing this song out for the past 6 weeks or so, and can’t get enough. I found it on the Kitsuné Maison Compilation 12 (which you should pick up as well… actually you should get everything that Kitsuné puts out). Enjoy!!!

The Street Aesthetic of New York City

This video reminds us of why we LOVE New York so much! Director Christian Andersen does such a great job catching the imagery and life of NYC with this piece, we can almost smell the summer, city streets!

Andersen’s Description:
I had a chance to go visit one of the greatest cities this summer. Right when I got of the plane and arrived downtown New York, I took my camera and strolled out through the busy streets of New York City. I wanted to capture the great culture and street aesthetic of New York and I think it turned out really well. The video includes recordings from both Manhattan and Brooklyn, where I spend hours capturing the culture and everyday life of native New Yorkers.

Nike Sportswear The Ones: “Street Etiquette.”

Posted in Art, design, Fashion with tags , , , , , , , on August 9, 2011 by SOCIALIGHT Entertainment

“The Ones,” an original web series presented by the Air Force One, profiles creative individuals who are revolutionizing their respective fields and explores what makes them special. The latest installment turns the lens on Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs, the two young men from the Bronx behind the men’s lifestyle blog “Street Etiquette.” Founded in 2008, the site approaches personal style from an urban perspective—an aesthetic seen in the vibrant photos of young men wearing suspenders, bowties and vintage couture around New York City. Find out what makes these remarkable and influential individuals tick in this edition of “The Ones.” And here’s a helpful hint from Joshua: “I think the cool guy is the guy that’s just himself.”
